SAIC Annual Runway Show Introduces the Next Gen in Fashion
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will present the 81st edition of its annual runway show for 2015. The show, presented three times in one day on Friday, May 8, at Millennium Park's Chase Promenade, will support the production of student work and scholarships in THE WALK.
The students in the SAIC Department of Fashion Design have created works that include performance, sculpture, design and installation, SAIC students have created an electrifying evening that incorporates cross-disciplines and a combination of techniques.
THE WALK begins at 5:30pm with a cocktail reception, and the evening continues at 6:30pm with "The Dolls," a performance by Claudia Hart, associate professor of film, video, new media, and animation at SAIC. The runway show featuring the work of undergraduate students begins at 6:45pm. Concluding the evening will be a dinner. The show includes complete collections of five looks from the Department of Fashion Design seniors, three-look collections by juniors, and one avant-garde look by sophomores.
In addition to the runway, Diane Pernet, fashion critic, journalist, and filmmaker, will receive the Legend of Fashion award for 2015. Pernet is responsible for pioneering online fashion journalism with, "A Shaded View On Fashion", her website and also working with the fashion film genre. Pernet will present selections of her traveling film festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center on May 10.

Dress rehearsal for the May 8 event begins at 9am, and tickets are $40. Day show tickets are $75 and begin at 12 and 3pm. THE WALK tickets begin at $500. All tickets can be purchased online. The event is at Millennium Park, Chase Promenade North, 201 E. Randolph St.
