I've had a car since I was 16. First, there was the two-ton yellow pick-up purchased at auction. Then the yellow Volvo. The maroon Volvo. The hateful Intrepid purchased at auction. And then Cleo, the Subaru station wagon, and the first one I bought myself.
So, I'm not really a rideshare-with-strangers type of gal. I've roadtripped, for sure. And there is a difference between a rideshare and a roadtrip. The former has all the glamour of Birkenstock clog, but a roadtrip! There's stops at Denny's, gas station bathrooms, and crap to purchase from the Flying J Gift Shop. Who can wait?

Keith figured he'd offer them $50 to take the cat down and drop it off at Shella's. She hadn't asked for it back yet, but he knew she would and in any case it was hers to begin with. When she left him six months ago, she just didn't have the room in the Kia. Keith was sad when he looked at the cat and always hated the smell of its food. The Lundquists were happy to take the cat, who traveled like a pro.

They both found rides out to Indianapolis. Stephen and Gina spent the holiday with their families, who packed them up with leftovers and dropped them off to meet their rideshare partners. But the rideshare people had both left without them. It was during their scramble to rent a car and the hours-long ride home when they realized that they actually quite missed each other during the two days they were apart. In the line at the rental return counter, they kissed for the first time.
