You may have noticed that some changes are afoot here at Gapers' Block. First and foremost, the section you're reading now, called Airbags. What is it? Glad you asked.

The new Airbags section will feature a new column each weekday, Monday through Friday. A little shorter, a little more off-the-cuff than Detour, Airbags is about voicing opinion -- which is why you'll be able to comment on each one.

Among the columns you see are "Ask the Librarian," by our resident librarian, Alice Maggio. "One Good Meal" is a food and cooking column written by various food lovers (inspired by Cinnamon Cooper's recent article in Detour.) Our very opinionated Dave Elfving and Ramsin Canon also will appear weekly. And well have one slot open for a variety of authors on a variety of topics, from book, film or theater reviews to perspectives on the political issues of the day to revelations about romance as discovered in bellybutton lint. Anything may and quite often will go, and you'll read about it in Airbags.

To make room for this new section we had to lose another, and so we bid a fond farewell to Jam, our weekly mp3 selection. Headlights, our shout-out for one special event each week, moves to Jam's former location on the front page to clear space for Airbags. (However, fans of Jam may find that if they clap loud enough, they'll bring it back to life, just like Tinkerbell.)

With all this new daily content to quench your appetite, we're going to slow Detour down a little, posting now on Tuesdays and Thursdays with an emphasis on quality.

We're continuing to make refinements and additions as we go along (note the larger section headers, as requested). Feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for making Gapers' Block the success it is now, and here's to making it even better in the future.
