Urban Typography, A Street Art Exhibit

During this inclement season, several of Chicago's most prolific and creative street artists have taken their work indoors for easier viewing at Urban Typography 2. It opens TONIGHT at Ageless Arts Tattoo at 2410 S. Kedzie between 24th and 25th Streets in Pilsen. The reception is from 7 pm to 11 pm.

This exhibit assembles different types of street art, including the new art board phenomenon as well as stencils, stickers and mixed-media work. You may not know Artillery, Saro, Nice-One and Mirian Vasquez by name, but you'll certainly recognize their work as seen around Chicago on Flickr. Get a tattoo! Check out some art! Have fun!

The Slip

Not more than a year ago The Slip was one of the most respected jazz-jam bands around. Their tight, improvised sound brought praise from musical critics in all genres. But as of late the band has shifted their sound to a more current rage - Indie Rock. The band has the skill to make the switch seemless and their most recent album, Eisenhower was one of last year's hipster favs. (the song "Even Rats" was featured on Playstation's Guitar Hero) Catch them live tonight at the Double Door with opener Gringo Star.
