Eli's Cheesecake Festival

The 13th Annual Eli's Cheesecake Festival will bombard you with entertainment, food, a classic car show, chef demos, things for the kids, and of course, cheesecake. Event runs 11am-5pm at Eli's Cheesecake World, corner of Montrose and Forest Preserve Drive.

Stridulate Ensemble performs at Epiphany Dance Experiment @ Epiphany Episcopal Church

For those who missed the premiere of Stridulate: Hybrid Forms in Voice & Movement, here is an opportunities to see a bit of it. 30 continuous hours of performances, workshops and jams with a started with 15 minute performance of Stridulate material in the Underground Lounge on Oct 2. The second--that you can still catch--is at Ayako Kato's Epiphany Dance Experiment series, where we'll perform a similar piece with an expanded ensemble of 7 people.

Ravenswood Art Walk

This year's art walk includes over 50 venues and the art work of over 150 working, professional and emerging artists and performance groups. Start at 4256 N. Ravenswood. There, you will see one piece from each artist showing which will help you plan your route, based on your tastes. (Don't miss "The Blago Project" taking place in the former wire tapped offices of the Friends of Rod Blagojevich: 4147 N. Ravenswood.) This event is happening on the 3rd and the 4th from 11am to 6pm. Admission is free.

Poetry Readings and "Telephone Art" Game @ Myopic Bookstore

"Ten Out Of Tenn" @ Schubas

There is more to Nashville than honky-tonk, and these ten singer/songwriters have taken to the road together in one tour bus to spread the word that underneath the commercial country music industry lies one of the best emerging artist scenes in the country. One of the performers touring with "Ten Out Of Tenn" is part-time Chicagoan Andrew Belle. His music could be in the same family line as The Fray, with heartfelt pop that would be perfect for television drama. In fact, his song "I'll Be Your Breeze" has already appeared in an episode of 90210. Tonight all ten artists take over the stage at Schubas. Tickets are $12. 3159 N. Southport, 8pm. 18+

Journey to the Center of the Uterus: Adventures Infertility! @ The Greenhouse Theater Center

Kathleen Puls Andrade's one-woman show chronicling the trials and tribulations of conception is enjoying a run on stage at The Greenhouse Theater Center. The show is directed by Andrew Eninger, whose work includes the improvised performance piece "Sybil" and is a founding member of GayCo Productions, Chicago's Gay & Lesbian Sketch Comedy theater. As a sperm donor, Eninger is uniquely qualified to collaborate with Andrade in this endeavor.

"Improvising Strategies for Large Ensemble" Workshop @ Elastic Sound and Vision Gallery

This interdisciplinary workshop, taught by Gino Robair, will examine a number of techniques you can use when improvising within a large group. There will be a focus on global awareness and listening, while exploring strategies for achieving maximum variety and avoiding stagnation.
