Vaudezilla's Bartop Burlesque @ The Blue Bayou
The broads of Vaudezilla are back on the Blue Bayou's bartop for a night of free burlesque! Stop by 3734 N. Southport Avenue tonight for their weekly 10pm show. Pop-up 1975 Dive Bar @ Steppenwolf Garage Theatre
Can you smell the orange vinyl? This Thursday three superstar Steppenwolf scenic designers transform the Merle Reskin Garage Theatre into a dive bar circa December 1975, in honor of the year David Mamet wrote American Buffalo -- in production at Steppenwolf through February 7. The free event (RSVP required) includes Toast & Jam DJ Rachel Hinsdale spinning early '70s tunes (no disco!), classic '70s TV, and an artistic presentation exploring David Mamet's work with Chicago actors David Pasquesi and Kurt Ehrmann. Nacional 27's Adam Seger's bringing in some holiday sparkle at this month's cocktail class, which features Champagne. Learn how to make two Champagne cocktails, the "Apertif 27" and the "Sparkling Holiday Mojito."
