The first ever Chicago Turkish Festival runs Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at Daley Plaza, from 9am to about 1:30pm. Take a walk at lunchtime and enjoy the music, fashions and food of Turkey. Free. More information here.

Poetry Center Benefit w/ Billy Corgan

Billy Corgan, frontman of Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan, will be the main attraction of a benefit show for the Poetry Center of Chicago, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The event is being held in the Rubloff Auditorium at the Art Institute of Chicago, 111 S. Michigan Ave., at 6:30 pm (doors open at 6). Tickets are $35.00, available through TicketWeb.
