Bitch Magazine Open House/Reading

The lovely ladies of Bitch Magazine are coming to our town! Head over to Women and Children First (5233 N. Clark) for an open house from 1-2 pm, then enjoy a Bitchy reading at Quimby's, 1854 North Ave., at 8 pm, as staffers read old favorites from issues past and new articles from the Fall 2003 Family Issue. Cineme 2003

Cineme 2003, otherwise known as the first annual Chicago International Animation Film Festival, presents showings of award-winning animated films Friday, Saturday and Sunda, primarily at the Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. Covering everything from web animation to Bill Plimpton to contemporary Anime, this should be a visual feast. Schedule here; tickets are $6 at the door, or buy a pass.

Chicago Beer Society Fall Tasting

The Chicago Beer Society, founded in 1977, holds its annual fall blind tasting and dinner coming up November 8 at Rock Bottom Brewery, State and Grand. RESFEST 2003.

RESFEST 2003, the great annual festival of technology, art and film (but mostly film), continues its three-day stay at The Museum of Contemporary Art. This afternoon, the short films and videos start screening at 2:00. The most interesting attraction this day: a series of Spike Jonze music videos screening at 8:00! Yes, they will have the "Weapon of Choice" video, with commentary by Christopher Walken. Worth the price of admission all by itself, no doubt. Fine Art of Fiber

The Fine Art of Fiber is being held this weekend, Friday Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe. This free, annual event sponsored by Illinois Quilters Inc., North Suburban NeedleArts Guild and North Shore Weavers Guild features handmade quilts, wall hangings, weavings, clothing, beadwork, fabrics and dolls on display and for sale along with lectures and fashion shows. Hours are 10am-5pm each day.
