Free Self-Defense Training

The recently publicized rapists that have been attacking women in Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and other northside neighborhoods has drawn together Chicago NOW, Chicago CAPS, and Lakeview Alderman Tom Tunney to provide free self-defense classes. Representatives of 1000 Waves will be teaching the final class. You can attend the free session tonight at Sheil Park (3505 N. Southport) from 6-8 pm.

"Swell Holiday" Cocktail Party

Local fashion designer Cynthia Rowley and style writer Ilene Rosenzweig celebrate the release of their new book Swell Holiday"> with a cocktail party at Spago, 520 N. Dearborn. The book showcases simple holiday entertaining techniques, from desserts and "Grinch" punch to fashion and greeting cards. The party runs from 5:30-8:30pm, and appetizers are included in the $30 ticket price (which leads us to believe drinks are not).
