Select Media Festival 2, the latest in a series of film and video festivals celebrating "the digital underground of electronic media." Tonight the festival kicks off with a rip-roaring double feature:
Value Added Cinema, a 45-minute collection of gratuitous product placement in Hollywood cinema; and
Knowing Was Half The Battle, aka the infamous GI Joe shorts that have been travelling the 'net recently (done by Chicago's own

Chicago Philatelic Society holds the 117th(!) annual
CHICAGOPEX philatelic convention and bourse November 21-23 at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest, 3400 West Euclid Ave. in Arlington Heights. The British Caribbean Philatelic Society, the United Postal Stationery Society and the United States Stamp Society will hold their annual conventions concurrently.
