Casimir Pulaski Day
Today is
Pulaski Day. If you grew up in Illinois, you probably recall getting the day off for school. But who was Pulaski, and why does he deserve a day? Hey, he was
the father of the American cavalry. He helped American forces discover and defeat the British, and his legion was described by one British officer as "the best damned cavalry the rebels ever had." So give a salute to Casimir Pulaski, one of the major heroes of the American Revolution.
