Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality

Physicist Brian Greene will lead a discussion of his most recent book, The Fabric ot the Cosmos: Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality Tuesday, March 30th at 6:30 pm at The Oriental Institute, 1155 East 58th Street in Hyde Park.

Space and time form the very fabric of the cosmos. Yet they remain among the most mysterious of concepts. Is space an entity? Why does time have a direction? Could the universe exist without space and time? Can we travel to the past? Physicist Brian Greene uses these questions to guide us toward modern science's new understanding of the universe. Focusing on the enigma of time, Greene explores the past, present, and future of physics, from Newton to Einstein to the latest developments in superstring and M-theory, all in prose that even committed non-scientists can understand. Greene is a professor at Columbia University and the author of The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory.
