Rachel Levitsky at Myopic Books

Tonight's Myopic Poetry Series at Myopic Books features Rachel Levitsky, whose first full-length volume of poetry, “Under the Sun,” was published by Futurepoem books in 2003. She is the author of several chapbooks, and has also written several plays. Levitsky is the creator and co-curator of “Belladonna” a feminist-experimental-poetic reading, salon, and publication series. While studying poetics at Naropa, she founded and curated the Left Hand Reading Series in Boulder, Colorado, 1996-1998. Selections from her current work, “NEIGHBOR,” can be read at The Brooklyn Rail. Ustad Asshish Khan at Chicago Cultural Center

As part of the Sunday Salon Series, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs presents a free concert by internationally renowned classical Indian musician Ustad Aashish Khan, at 3 p.m. under the grand Tiffany dome in Preston Bradley Hall of the Chicago Cultural Center, located at 78 E. Washington St. Aashish Khan replaces previously announced Ustad Sultan Khan. Fazal Qureshi remains as accompanist on tabla. Ustad Aashish Khan plays the sarod, one of the most popular plucked string instruments of northern India. Together with his uncle Ravi Shankar, he has worked on projects for both film and stage, including Sir Richard Attenborough's Oscar-winning film "Gandhi". The Stray Show

The Stray Show happens this weekend. Now in it's third year, it brings a diverse and vast collection of galleries, artists and other creatives together to foster progression of the arts. Quite a veritiable group of Chicago's finest representing. Be sure to do so as well. Opening night celebrations happen this evening with the Stray Show proper from the 7th - 9th.
