Lake Shore Marathon
In its 3rd year,
the Lakeshore Marathon has evolved from an idea to provide a spring marathon for Chicago, Illinois and Midwestern runners. Already, runners from every state and 18 countries have participated in the event. One of only three Illinois' Marathons and the state's only spring marathon, the Lakeshore Marathon is rapidly developing a loyal and burgeoning following. The 26.2 mile marathon course begins and completes at the Fallen Firefighter's and Paramedic's Memorial in Burnham Park, a fitting event and location to memorialize the day and pay tribute to Daniel Burnham, a historic Chicago planner that had the wherewithal to protect over 30 miles of Chicago's shore for the benefit of future generations. If you want to
register (though, you probably should have been training already), you still can. You can always do the
5-mile memorial power walk or just stand by and cheer for all those crazy runners.
