I Was Really Very Hungry: A Portrait of M.F.K. Fisher

Part of the city's Stirring Things Up in Chicago, tonight's "food-inspired theater event" honors the great food writer M.F.K. Fisher. There will be a reading as well as a dinner menu inspired by the author's works. Chefs Linda Rosner and Jenny Lewis lead the dining portion of the evening while biographer Joan Reardon introduces the theatrical reading. This event begins at 6:30pm in the Claudia Cassidy Theater of the Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph. Admission is $30 and reservations are required. Call 312-744-9350 to save your place.

"French Masters" Dinner with Cezanne

Mon Ami Gabi and the Art Institute partner to present a series of "French Masters" dinners offering the opportunity to learn about some of the most famous French artists. Tonight's featured artist is Paul Cezanne and an AIC lecturer will give a slide presentation of Cezanne's works. A wine reception starts the evening at 6pm, followed by the presentation at 6:30pm and a multi-course French meal. Tickets are $65 per person; reservations are required. This month's meeting of the Gapers Block Book Club takes place tonight at The Book Cellar at 4736 N. Lincoln Ave., where we will be discussing Crossing California by Adam Langer.
