Watch deranged Southern Belle Bette Davis go completely bonkers as she's haunted by ghosts from her past in Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte, Robert Aldrich's 1964 follow-up to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Also on the bill is Dr. Seuss's 1950 cartoon Gerald McBoing Boing -- surely you know the one! The Johnsonese Gallery has recently relocated to Bucktown to inhabit their new 3,200 square foot space. The new address will be 1822 N. Milwaukee, on the main level of a renovated 1880's building that will allow the gallery three times the space of their previous location. The gallery focuses on showcasing work by emerging artists and making it affordable so that it is accessible to a wide range of collectors, allowing them to follow artists as their careers grow. Join them tonight, 6-8pm, to celebrate the re-opening and to witness Phoenix, their grand opening show.

The ninth annual Chicago SummerDance festival of public dancing continues tonight in the Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park (601 S. Michigan, between Harrison and Balbo). This evening's entertainment: Manny Lopez-Marquez, teaching Merengue dance; and Chuchito Valdés Afro-Cuban Ensemble, playing contemporary Afro-Cuban music. SummerDance features one hour of dance lessons, followed by two hours of live music and dancing. Tonight's show runs from 6:00 to 9:30, and SummerDance runs at the park Wednesday-Sunday nights (weather permitting) through August 28. See the SummerDance site for a complete schedule.
A pretty amazing documentary is playing at the Siskel Film Center this week. Called Electric Edwardians: The Films of Mitchell & Kenyon, the film shows footage that was shot in Edwardian Britain between 1901 and 1905, and shows various aspects of everyday life from a century ago. Sounds like an amazing historical document, and a fascinating film. Electric Edwardians screens today at the Film Center at 3:30 PM, on Tuesday the 19th at 6:00 PM, and on Wednesday the 20th at 8:00 PM. Grab your straw hats and bonnets because the Chicago Botanic Gardens is holding an "Old-Fashioned, All-American Ice Cream Social" this weekend. Listen to barbershop quartets and Dixieland bands while enjoying barbeque, ice-cream and more. The ice cream social is taking place July 16 and 17 from 11am-4pm. Story Studio Chicago is proud to announce the return of their Screenwriting 5-Session Workshop for Saturday mornings beginning today. "Get your feet wet with this invigorating workshop. Great for students who are just starting with an idea in their heads. But we'll also focus exercises and discussions to help those writers who already have scenes or a complete draft down on paper. Millennium Park, Equinox Fitness Clubs and the Mayor's Fitness Council have organized a series of fitness events on the lawn of the Pritzker Pavilion, the first of which is this morning.
