CAF Marshal Field's on State Tour

While it's still called Marshall Field's, why not head out on a Chicago Architecture Foundation tour of the famous building? The Marshal Field's on State tour starts at 12:15pm and lasts 45 minutes (perfect for lunchtime in the Loop). The tour traces the construction, development, and renovation of this State Street landmark. Highlights include the century-old great clock, the Tiffany dome, the north light well, the Walnut Room, Trend House, and Charley’s Door. Tickets are $5 for non-members or free for CAF members and no reservations are needed. Just meet at Marshall Field’s, inside at 28 E. Washington (near Wabash) Entrance #6.

McSweeney's Reading @ Quimby's

McSweeney’s contributors Paul La Farge, Salvador Plascencia, and Adam Levin will be reading at Quimby’s Books tonight at 7pm. La Farge’s last novel, Haussman, or the Distinction, was a New York Times notabale book; Plascencia’s debut novel, The People of Paper, is a fabulist immigration story featuring a baby Nostradamus and Rita Hayworth. This event also supports the release of McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern Issue 16, a collection of short stories that includes… a comb. Quimby’s is located at 1854 W. North Ave. Call 773-342-0910 for more information.
