Rec Room Goes Pro
In case you missed SAIC MFAW alumni Meghan Austin and Shannon Mullally reading last week from their co-authored prize-winning novel Love Block @ Quimby's, fear not. This Wednesday Austin and Mullally return to the reading series that gave them a start: Rec Room @ Black Rock. This Wednesday's Rec Room event is Goin' Pro, a group poetry reading curated by Vida Cross. Come listen to work by regulars Heather Cramon, Kathy Regina, T.V. Masih and organizer/co-founder Della Watson. They'll read poetry created and inspired by Rec Room's July 16 Writing Workshop. Mullally and Austin's appearance will certainly sweeten the Goin' Pro theme. They are the first Rec Roomers to have published a book and to win a major contest. FREE! CPR Jazz Night on the Terrace
Tonight Chicago Public Radio hosts their annual night of live jazz at Navy Pier from 8-11pm. The public is encourged to attend "Jazz Night on the Terrace," featuring the John Smillie Trio and pianist Dan Trudell. Appetizers, desserts and drinks will be served, compliments of Whole Foods.
