Truth in Motion: Violence and Power

The University of Chicago’s Human Rights Center is presenting Truth in Motion, a series of screenings of documentaries produced by Chicago’s Kartemquin Films in the past 35-plus years. Tonight’s free screening, which starts at 7 PM, features three short documentaries and an excerpt from the award-winning The New Americans. The Path to Publication

As part of Columbia College's Creative Nonfiction Week local editors talk paths to publication. Moderated by Jotham Burrello the all-star panel features Martha Bayne [writer, associate editor, Chicago Reader ], Sylvia M. Paschke & Toulouse-Lautrec @ the Block

Tonight at 6pm, Lisa Wainwright, dean of graduate studies at the School of the Art Insitute of Chicago, explores the demimonde of 1890s Paris and 1970s Chicago as seen through the work of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Ed Paschke. Wainwright is introduced by Northwestern professor William Conger. The event takes place at the Block Museum, which is located on Northwestern's campus at 40 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston.
