Underground Electronic Night

Check out undiscovered electronic music talent at Wake Up!, a new event held on the first Tuesday of the month at Sonoteque. Flavorpill says that Wake Up! features accomplished artists who are often lauded niche performers but slip under Chicago's cultural radar. Tonight's set features unmixed DJ sets by Brad Loving, Kumar Mc Millon and residents Kate Simko and Karl Meier.

Sonoteque is located at 1444 W. Chicago. The needle drops at 9 p.m. and the cost is just $3.

Mary Roach @ 57th Street Books

For a little bit of science with your Dia De Los Muertos, head to 57th Street Books at 1301 E. 57th Street at 7pm tonight to see Mary Roach (Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers) talk about her new book, Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife. In Spook, Roach's investigations into the afterlife take her from speaking with a reincarnation expert in India to attending a medium school in England to seeing what is allegedly a rare specimen of ectoplasm. See the Seminary Co-op website for more details.
