The Earrings of Madame De... @ DOC Films

Screening at 7pm tonight in the "Crumbling Old Aristocracies" series is Max Ophuls' masterpiece The Earrings of Madame De.... The 1953 film charts no fewer than four purchases of the titular earrings, which circulate through a small group of Vienna society folk and come to symbolize the empty romance and cheap emotions found therein. The film also features noted director Vittorio de Sica in a starring role. The film screens at the Max Palevsky Theatre, 1212 E. 59th St; for more information, see the DOC Films website.

Panel Discussion on Women in Architecture @ the Chicago Architecture Foundation

At 6 PM this evening, three of the architects featured in the current CAF exhibit 5 Architects discuss women’s evolving role in the profession. Radio Plays @ the Chicago Cultural Center

The AFTRA/SAG Senior Radio Players are dedicated to “keeping alive the uniqueness of radio as the theater of the imagination." At tonight’s performances of Life with Luigi (a sitcom about an Italian immigrant to Chicago) and Gunsmoke (a western), you’ll have a chance to see sound effects people, as well as usually invisible actors, at work. David Ebenbach book reading @ The Book Cellar
