That's Weird, Grandma @ Neo-Futurarium

After a short hiatus, the Barrel of Monkeys theater company returns to the Neo-Futurarium tonight to continue its long-running show That's Weird, Grandma. The show presents a series of plays based on writings by Chicago Public Schools students, and the results are often as not hilarious. Free Premiere: Turning a Corner

Beyond Media and the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless present a free screening of Turning a Corner, a movie that "tells the stories of people involved in the sex trade in Chicago and their efforts to raise public awareness of systemic injustice and promote needed reforms." The premiere is from 5:30-8pm, with the film shown from 6-7pm, at Northwestern University Thorne Auditorium at 375 E. Lawrence Hall Youth Services Bowl-A-Thon

From 5:30-9:30pm, join Lawrence Hall Youth Services for their 2nd Annual Bowl-A-Thon. The $100 entry fee includes lane fees, shoe rental, food and drink and benefits the child welfare agency that "treats, educates and provides a home for serverly emotionally and behaviorally distrubed children who have no place else to turn." Author of Flaubert's Parrot, Julian Barnes stops by the Newberry Library to discuss his latest novel Arthur and George.
