Literary Gangs of Chicago @ MCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art's Literary Gangs of Chicago continues tonight with readings by 826CHI. Sister program to Dave Eggers's 826Valencia, the Chicago varient officially opened in 2005. Tonight's reading includes those by the tutoring program's students. Free and open to the public, 6:30-8pm in Puck's.

Early to Bed's Sex Salons

Chicago women-owned sex shop Early to Bed is hosting a series of facilitated – yet casual – group discussions about different topics related to sex. They'll start with some wine and cheese and informal mingling, then sit down to talk about that night's topic. It might be philosophical, cultural, political or even spiritual. No lectures, no demonstrations. There will be some good questions posed, and the conversation will flow from there. No experience or special knowledge is necessary. What is your earliest memory of watching a sex scene in a mainstream movie? How did these sex scenes influence our emerging ideas of what sex is? How do sex scenes we see in mainstream movies shape our perceptions of what good sex is supposed to be like? How realistic are sex scenes in mainstream movies? What makes a great sex scene? How much do we judge our sexual experiences by what we see in these movies?

Learn to Knit Mittens

One of my resolutions this year was to learn to knit a pair of mittens. You can do what I've been too lazy to do (so far), and make a pair of mittens at this mini-workshop at The Knitting Workshop in Lincoln Park.
