Mother's Day Too Much Light @ Neo-Futurarium

The Neo-Futurists present a special Mother's Day edition of their long-running show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, featuring many works on the subject of parenthood written by the ensemble. Mothers accompanied by one or more of their children will get into the show for free! Too Much Light happens this evening at 7:00 PM; doors open at 6:30 PM. Holy Modal Rounders doc @ Film Center

Have moicy! The legendary 1960s folk freaks The Holy Modal Rounders are captured in Bound To Lose, a documentary that follows the duo of Peter Stampfel and Steve Weber as they careen headlong towards a 40th anniversary concert in Portland, Ore. Interviewees include: Sam Shepard (who once drummed for the Rounders); Dennis Hopper (who used the Rounders' "Bird Song" in his movie Easy Rider); Peter Tork John Sebastian; and Fugs founders Ed Sanders & Tuli Kupferberg. Children's Prayers for Moms@ Baha'i House of Worship

All children are invited to read, recite, or chant their favorite prayer on Mother's Day, May 14th, at 12:30 p.m. Children will be reading in the Auditorium upstairs at the Baha'i House of Worship. If you have a child who would like to participate, please escort them to the viewing room downstairs in the Visitors Center at NOON. Each child will be assigned a number when they arrive and will say prayers in order. Please encourage your child to practice at home.

Eiko & Komo @ MCA

Japanese born, New York based performance and dance artists Eiko & Komo have been creating inovative and ideosyncratic work together for 35 years. See the chicago premiere of their new work this evening at the MCA (220 East Chicago Avenue). Cambodian Stories was created in collaboration with eleven young visual artists, aged 14-20, from the Reyum Institute of Arts and Culture in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, who will paint monumental portraits of traditional Cambodian figures on stage.
