Join Gapers Block at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, tonight from 9pm to close as we celebrate our third anniversary! We'll have live music by Sycamore Smith (profiled here) and Canasta, short films by Steve Delahoyde, readings, contests, prizes and more. $10 at the door, 21 and over.

Artists Reception & Opening @ Aron Packer Gallery

Robin Assner photographs models that have been plastered with peanut butter, greasy mozzarella cheese, and gooey, glistening vanilla pudding. She presents the results in a new show Sticky at Aron Packer Gallery (118 N Peoria). Also presented is the work of Jerry Bleem, who creates stamp collage, glass-mounted insect wings, crocheted wall work using flags, drawings done on found papers, and more, and new paintings by Chicago-based artist Eleanor Speiss Ferris. Bring May Flowers @ Viaduct Theatre

The House Theatre of Chicago and Tense Forms present Bring May Flowers, a series of evenings of poetry, music, plays and dance at the Viaduct Theatre (3111 N. Western). Among the performers scheduled during the next few days: Viola Lee (poetry); Rosie Forrest (play); Radiant Darling (rock); and Casey Meehan (also rock). Doors open at 10:00 PM tonight, and tickets are $8 (half-price if you present a ticket from the House Theatre's current play, The Boy Detective Fails, now playing at the Viaduct).
