Annual Pride open mike @ Women & Children First

The Women & Children First bookstore presents its annual open mike event celebrating Pride Month. There's a large lineup of authors scheduled to read, and you can sign up for a two minute spot to read your own prose or poetry. The event starts at the bookstore tonight at 7:30 PM. Joffrey Ballet @ Harris Theater

Part of the Joffrey's celebration of its 50th anniversary, "Come Dance with Us," tonight's program includes Cool Vibrations, choreographed by Twyla Tharp in 1973, and Motown Suite, a recent work commissioned from Donald Byrd, which had its world premiere in April. Early to Bed: Asking For It

Early to Bed's latest workshop, "Asking For It," explores why it's so difficult to ask our sexual partners for what we want. Communication is the key to a satisfying relationship and the workshop aims to "help participants develop some skills for effectively communicating with their sexual partners." Rush Hour Concert @ St. James Cathedral

Professional Cathedral musicians are joined by guests from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles for this series of free, 30-minute chamber music concerts.
