Flashback Weekend

Flashback Weekend, the three-day horror movie convention, kicks off today at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare hotel. Scheduled for the three days: loads of stars scheduled to do signings, a costume contest hosted by local TV legend Svengoolie, a model figure contest, and a horror-themed burlesque show. MONO-POLY: Collaborative Monoprints from Girl Skateboards' The Art Dump

A collobarative print exhibition will be showing at 2418 W. Bloomingdale, Studio 207 on the 28th-30th with contributers from The Girl Skateboard Co. Art Dump. A portion of the project will then be exhibited from August-September, 2006 at Uprise Skateshop, 1820 N. Milwaukee, Chicago IL. Don't miss the big reception on Friday, with Chocolate Industries recording artists Ghislain Poirier, Diverse and Kovas.

Pitchfork Pre-Party @ Metro

Along with a week's worth of activities including music documentaries and downtown lunchtime shows, the Pitchfork Music Festival will give you a taste of the live music before the live music starts this weekend with a special concert at the Metro. Performances will include sets from Sunset Rubdown, Austin, Texas' indie pop group Voxtrot, The Joggers, and comedians Eugene Mirman, Todd Barry, and Aziz Ansari, as well as the Life During Wartime DJs. Darknight Gallery 3

"Darknight Gallery 3," a series of plays written in the theme of the Rod Serling's Twilight Zone and Night Gallery, will run on weekends from July 28th to August 27th at the UIC Theater, 1440 W.
