Join the Book Cellar readers as they welcome Jon Langford for their monthly local author night. Women in Film Build-A-Skill Workshop

Women in Film's Build-A-Skill workshop series provides "a forum where women can come away with real-world knowledge for use in the day-to-day career pursuits within the industry." Today's workshop is "Negotiating For Yourself" and focuses on building relationship, increasing visibility in the marketplace, networking and how women handle time management as well as the challenges for women in negotiation. Christine Corelli, Theresa Maria Napa and Cheryl McPhilimy will make up the panel discussion at Jefferson Tap, 325 N. Jefferson. Immediate Sound series @ The Hideout

Tonight's excellent double set of jazz and electronica at The Hideout features some Chicago heavy hitters along with some highly-praised newcomers. Check out the Kevin Drumm/Lassa Marhaug Duo first, starting at 9:30pm, and follow with "Fire Room" featuring Ken Vandermark (reeds), Lasse Murhaug (electronics), and Paal Nillssen (Love drums) all wrapped together with a DJ set by Bob Weston who'll spin "Aggressive Underground Rock and Pop That Will Put You in Emotional Jeopardy."
