Snapshots @ Strawdog Theatre
20% Theater Company presents Snapshots, an evening of women in theater. Over 25 female artists from Chicago and across the country will be represented in the program. Snapshots runs tonight at the Strawdog Theatre (3829 N. Broadway). The show starts at 7:00 PM; tickets are a suggested $10 donation, and can be obtained through the 20% Theater Company's Website, or by calling (773) 415-0309.
Chicago Air and Water Show
Hey, in case the roar of planes overhead aren't enough of a clue, this weekend will see the "largest free festival of its kind in the nation" return to the shores of North Avenue Beach. The Chicago Air and Water Show runs Saturday and Sunday from 9am-4pm (starting with the water show and moving skyward throughout the day). And don't be a doofus, take public transportation and steer clear of Lake Shore Drive!
RHINO Reading @ Woman Made Gallery
Join the writers, translators and editors of RHINO for a reading at the Woman Made Gallery (685 N. Milwaukee Ave., 312-738-0400). An annual journal of poetry, shorts and translations, RHINO showcases the best and the brightest in Chicago’s literary scene. Marion Boyer (winner of the 2006 READERS=WRITERS Contest) and others read from their works at the event, which takes place from 2-4pm. Free. Street parking available. Gallery is located off the blue line Chicago stop.
Pompeii @ The Note
Pompeii is a five-piece outfit from Austin that play melodic, introspective, jangly and heart-tugging songs. With band members originally from Chicago, some have come home to their roots.
You can catch them at The Note on Milwaukee. The line-up looks like this: Inspector Owl / The 101 / Pompeii / The Spoken Four.
The Show is begins at 9:00 P.M. and tickets are $8.00 at the door.
