Two Thumbs Down 5th Anniversary @ Double Door
Looking back at a time when it used to release CD-Rs, the boutique label Two Thumbs Down celebrates its five-year anniversary tonight at The Double Door with a showcase featuring some of the label's local up-and-comers. Headliners May or May Not return to the Double Door after appearing at last month's annual Halloween bash as Daft Punk, while Dialogue and Slings and Arrows open. 9pm, 21+, $7 ($5 with flyer).
The Wood Brothers @ Schubas
If you didn't get tickets to see Medeski Martin & Wood, plus John Skofield at The Vic Dec. 9th, you can still get your Wood on tonight at Schubas. The Wood Brothers, featuring Chris Wood of Medeski Martin & Wood, play tonight at 9pm. Oliver and Chris Wood will bring you the musical line where free jazz meets blues, and all influences in between. Tickets are $14 and it's 21+. Cody Diekhoff opens.
Star and Garter Burlesque
While we begin shiver season, the Star and Garter Burlesque crew takes it off and yukks it up. Check out their striptease act, featuring "America's Got Talent" semi-finalist Michelle L'Amour, plus some of the funniest stand-ups in Chicago. AIDS Foundation of Chicago World of Chocolate
World of Chocolate is the annual holiday fundraiser for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. It's a blast, and benefits a great cause. This year's event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker Dr., tonight from 4pm to 6pm (pre-event global AIDS discussion and presentation) and 5:30 to 9pm (open bar, yummy sweets and a light buffet).
