The Double Door is getting into the holiday spirit this year by gifting a free show featuring two of Chicago's brightest young bands: Catfish Haven, who released its debut LP in September to much online buzz, and The Ms, who have had pretty good 2006 as well. After the release of Future Women early in the year, The Ms appeared at Lollapolooza, toured with Wilco and was featured on "The OC." Here's to an even bigger 2007. 21+. 10pm. FREE!
Mustaches for Kids celebrates the culmination of its hairy mission tonight with Stache Bash 2006 at smartbar, 3730 N. Clark St., at 10pm. Highlights will include a mustache pageant, music from DJs Bald Eagle and Spencer Lokken, and lots of guys with hair under their nose. 21 and over, $20 donation to the Off the Street Club is recommended, as that's the whole point of this shin-dig.
Chicago leftfield dub-rockers The Eternals return to the stage tonight at Schubas. The band's new album isn't due out until February, but listeners can probably expect them to trot out some new material for the occasion. The Baltimore-based trio Celebration opens, which should make for a strong and lively pairing. Keep an eye on the Transmission page for further details. 9pm, 3159 N. Southport. Admission $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
