BONE Thugs n Harmony @ HOB
They've been working solo for quite a while, a syndrome known as "I Can Do Better By Myself Than With All of You", one that has no limits in common sense or experience, as together, the group gave us The Crossroads and, to avoid the "one-hit wonder" status of other rap acts swallowed up and spit out during that period of the 90s, managed to turn out the welfare anthem 1st of Tha Month and apocolyptic 2Pac collaboration Thug Luv.
Tickets are $26.50 from Ticketmaster, but will probably end up being $40 or so after various charges. There's always the HOB box office.
Show starts at 9; doors at 7:30.
Electrelane @ Empty Bottle
What do you get when you combine Sleater-Kinney, Stereolab, and Brit-feminist sensibilities? Why, English female four piece Electrelane, that's what. Chosen to open for Arcade Fire for a few shows this summer (including two in Chicago earlier this week), the group will no doubt proudly be supporting this year's excellent No Shouts, No Calls. Local dark composers Sterling play second and eccentric French storyteller Tender Forever opens. Show is at 9:30 PM and tickets are $12. Empty Bottle #: 773-276-3600.
The Faint @ Metro
Omaha's The Faint hasn't released an album since 2004's Wet From Birth completed a trifecta of sex/death/birth concept albums. Since then they've auditioned new songs on tour and dabbled in side projects. Their synth-pop style has become fuller over the last few years, but perhaps you'll get a hint of what their long-anticipated new album will sound like at Metro.
