Degrees of Separation Release Party

Featherproof Books celebrates the release of its latest venture Degrees of Separation, a postcard book about "post-Katrina responses from designers with a connection to New Orleans." The opening happens from 6-8pm at Suzanne Cummings Gallery, 630 Webster Ave., followed by an after-party at The Apartment from 8pm-12am, 2251 N. Lincoln Ave. Both events are free. Seedling Fruit Cooking Class

Seedling Orchard, from South Haven, Michigan, sells fruit at farmers' markets around the city, including Lincoln Square, Wicker Park, and in Evanston. They also offer a free cooking class at the Chopping Block once a month. Each class focuses on a different fruit. Classes run from noon to 1 p.m. Call 773-472-6700 for reservations.

Dating for Queer Nerds

Come to Guthries Tavern tonight to meet smarty, geeky GLBT singles at Dating for Nerds, where you can also engage in board games and trivia quizzes. Tuesdays on the Terrace @ MCA

Kick back at the Museum of Contemporary Art after work. Check out the farmer's market out front (it closes by 6 PM), wander through the exhibits (MCA admission is free Tuesdays), and conclude your evening lounging on the terrace, listening to jazz (the concert starts at 5:30 PM) and enjoying one of the best views in Chicago. The Literary Writers Network is holding a prose show at Kate the Great's Book Emporium. 365 Days/365 Plays @ Chicago Center for the Performing Arts
