As one of the final performances scheduled for artist Juan Chavez's Speaker Project, New York electronic musician and rhythm-meister Eliot Lipp will be playing at the Hyde Park Art Center. Tonight, John Sellers will be in indie rock time warp heaven. In celebration of his new book Perfect From Now On: How Indie Rock Saved My Life, Sellers got some friends together to rock the Beat Kitchen. Performing tonight are Chicago's own Guided By Voices tribute band the Textbook Committee who will pay earnest homage to Bob Pollard alongside Chicago's Farewell Captain. The latter will forego their own originals to do a set of indie-rock cover songs by Pavement, Archers of Loaf and Superchunk all by John's request. They'll have the late show slot at the Kitchen tonight. Doors open at 10:30 pm, music starts at 11pm. Tickets are $7, 21+.
