The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long festival of the films of David Lynch. Today's film is the 1986 breakthrough Blue Velvet. The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Charlotte's Web at Pasteur Park (5825 S. Kostner Ave.), Rosedale Park (6312 W. Rosedale Ave.), and Akeelah and the Bee at Lincoln Park (2045 Lincoln Park West). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public. The Neo-Futurists continues their 6th annual It Came From The Neo-Futurarium series of dramatic readings of bad film scripts tonight with the 1966 Lana Turner melodrama Madame X, directed by film fest veterans David Kodeski and Edward Thomas-Herrera. The reading kicks off tonight at 8:00 at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 N. Ashland, at Foster). Tickets are $10, $8 for students w/valid ID. Words can't express how awesome the Green City Market BBQ Festival will be--over 50 chefs from Chicago's top restaurants (Rick Bayless, Shawn McClain, and Mindy Segal, to name a few) serving up dishes using ingredients from the popular (and almost year-round) Lincoln Park farmer's market.
