Can't Stop The Music @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre presents an exercise in cinematic endurance for the reckless film-goer: the 1980 Village People vehicle Can't Stop The Music. Directed by actress Nancy Walker and co-starring Steve Guttenberg (in terrifyingly short shorts), Valerie Perrine, Bruce Jenner (also in terrifyingly short shorts) and Tammy Grimes, Can't Stop The Music purports to tell the story of the founding of the disco supergroup. "Mechanical Tide" Opening @ ESS

Audible at ESS, the gallery space in Experimental Sound Studio, 5925 N. Ravenswood, holds an opening reception for "Mechanical Tide," an audio sculpture by Jesse Seay, from 6pm to 9pm tonight. Renowned clarinetist and saxophonist Giullermo Gregorio will perform at 7pm. Free.

Wild At Heart @ Gene Siskel Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long festival of the films of David Lynch. Today's film is 1990's Wild At Heart, starring Nicholas Cage, Laura Dern, and the unforgettable Willem Dafoe. The film shows today at 8:30 PM, and will also be screened on Monday and Thursday; see the Film Center's Website for a complete schedule. Movies in the Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Happy Feet at Portage Park (4100 N. Long Ave.); and Monster House at Rutherford Sayre Park (6871 W. Belden Ave.). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public. Cocktails & Clay @ Hyde Park Art Center

Learn to make art the right way -- under the influence -- in the Hyde Park Art Center's Cocktails & Clay event series. The Center is kept open late so visitors can learn handbuilding, coils or just play with the clay. If you're feeling more social than creative, there will also be drinks, DJs, dancing and tours of the Center's latest exhibitions. 8pm-12am at 5020 S. Scion Installation Art Tour @ Heaven Gallery

Launched in 2003, the Scion Installation Art Tour brings together a variety of artists to interpret a specific theme - using a variety of mediums. This year's theme is "It's A Beautiful World," to be interpreted via painting, photography, sculpture and collage. The multi-city tour kicks off in Chicago and runs until July 25th. Latin Jazz Festival @ Humboldt Park

Tonight's event, which features the bands Havana, Conjunto, and Evolution Trio, is part of JazzCity, a collaboration between the Jazz Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Park District. Pitchfork Music Festival @ Union Park

The Cool Kids @ Empty Bottle

The blowin'-up-now Chicago hip-hop duo Cool Kids are headlining for the first night of the Empty Bottle's Pitchfork afterparty series. Yo! Majesty @ Sonotheque

Florida crunk-hop trio Yo Majesty returns to Chicago, kicking it rough, rawcous, and raunchy at Sonotheque. Their Chi debut back in February was a big hit, one of the few that they'd platye outside of their home turf. Between a recent appearance at SXSW and the attention they'd since generated in the press, the group is making a full-fledged tour this time out, and will be playing two gigs in town this weekend.
