The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screening: Happy Feet (PG) at Langley Playlot Park (11255 S. Langley Ave.). The screening starts tonight at dusk, and is free and open to the public. The Stockyard Institute has initiated a range of new education projects at the Hyde Park Art Center and has also recently organized an exhibition to discuss new experimental trends in urban education. The art show will be up for the next 2 months and will be accompanied by a public program every wednesday and saturday from now until September 23. The exhibit will feature work by Working with other artists, collaboratives, and groups, such as Counter Cartography Collective (Chapel Hill) The Center for Urban Pedagogy (New York), rum46 (Denmark), Think Tank (Philadelphia), Artlink (UK), and AREA (Chicago), just to name a few. The grand opening will last from 3-5pm at 5020 S. Cornell Avenue.

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long festival of the films of David Lynch. Today's film is the $40 million adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune novel. The Music Box Theatre presents an appearance by actor Farley Granger at a double feature of two Alfred Hitchcock films that he starred in: Strangers on A Train; and Rope.
