Chicago Outdoor Film Festival

The classic Barbara Stanwyck film Double Indemnity will be shown tonight as part of the Chicago Outdoor Film Festival, at Butler Field in Grant Park (at the corner of Monroe and Lake Shore Drive). The film starts at 8:50 p.m., weather permitting.

Movies in the Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Monster House at Normandy Playground Park (6660 W. 52nd St.); Charlotte's Web (G) at Hollywood Park (3312 W. Thorndale Ave.); and Talladega Nights at Margate Park (4921 N. Marine Drive). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public. For a complete schedule of movies check out the Chicago Park District Website.

Bookslut reading @ Hopleaf

Bookslut presents the latest in its series of monthly readings. Tonight's reading starts at 7:30 PM at the Hopleaf in Andersonville (doors open at 6:00), and features authors Amy Fusselman (8), Michele Morano (Grammar Lessons: Translating A Life in Spain) and Michael McColly (The After-Death Room: Journey into Spiritual Activism). Roky Erickson doc @ Music Box

Sound Opinions co-hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot present a screening of the documentary You're Gonna Miss Me, a look at the life of musician Roky Erickson. The director of the film, Kevin McAlester, will be in attendance for a Q&A session after the screening. You're Gonna Miss Me will be screened at the Music Box Theatre tonight at 7:30 PM. Tuesdays on the Terrace @ MCA

Kick back at the Museum of Contemporary Art after work. Check out the farmer's market out front (it closes by 6 PM), wander through the exhibits (MCA admission is free Tuesdays), and conclude your evening lounging on the terrace, listening to jazz (the concert starts at 5:30 PM) and enjoying one of the best views in Chicago. Ceviche and Cocktails @ Fox and Obel

Delacosta's Executive Chef, Adam Schop, will lead a class that promises to "demystify" the sushi of Latin food while sharing some of the recipes behind his restauring. Master Mixologist, Bridget Albert, will prepare Latin-inspired cocktails.
