BANDWIDTH @ Hideout

Radio Free Chicago presents BANDWIDTH, the latest in its series of monthly concerts. Tonight's concert is at the Hideout and features The Panda Band with special guests Pale Young Gentlemen. Doors open at 9:00 PM, tickets are $7, and can be purchased at Ticketweb. Hideout: 1354 W. Wabansia.

Iva Bittová @ Chicago Cultural Center

The folks behind the Umbrella Music Festival brought together a solid clustering of cutting-edge artists this year, but their biggest score was that of getting Czech violinist, vocalist, and composer Iva Bittová. She'll be preforming for free in the Preston Bradley Hall of the Chicago Cultural Center tonight. See out Transmission page for details. The Onion: Our Dumb World @ NU Chicago Campus

Editors from The Onion present the satiric Atlas of the Whole World (73rd Edition) from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Thorne Auditorium, Northwestern University School of Law Chicago Campus, 375 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased through the Chicago Humanities Festival website or by calling the ticket office at 312-494-9509.

MusicNOW @ Harris Theater

Tonight's program of contemporary music is co-hosted by both CSO composers-in-residence, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Osvaldo Golijov. CSO musicians will perform works by Turnage, Derek Johnson, and 18-year-old Mark Simpson (named BBC Young Musician of the year in 2006), as well as a world premiere of a piece commissioned by MusicNow and created by Nico Muhly. European Jazz Meets Chicago @ Cultural Center

This program of jazz by European performers brings the 2007 Umbrella Music Festival to a close. Performances begin at 6 PM; the last concert starts at 9:45 PM. Ephemera Festival @ DePaul

Ephemera Festival is a one-day event that recognizes and celebrates D.I.Y. culture in its many forms, including zines, comics, handmade crafts, live demonstrations, readings by independent writers and more.
