Najee Dorsey Opening Reception @ Nicole Gallery

This exhibit features Najee Dorsey's figurative work, rich with vibrant color and emotion, as well as his symbolic quilt images. Dorsey explores and shares his southern roots through colorful themes of motherhood, loving couples, musical scenes and political commentary using a bright vivid palette. His figurative work focuses on the lives of women, particularly in the Mississippi Delta. The exhibition runs through Jan. 5, 2008. Spukt opens @ Viaduct Theatre

Tonight Theater Oobleck opens the latest show in its 2007-08 season, Spukt, at the Viaduct Theatre (3111 N. Western, near Belmont). Spukt features the ghost of Napoleon, the history of the Middle East, musical numbers and some text borrowed from Agamemnon. In other words, fun for the whole family! Spukt plays Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 PM through December 22 (no shows Thanksgiving weekend). Tickets are $12, more if you've got it, free if you're broke. Donnie Darko at the Music Box Theatre

The Music Box Theatre will be fulfilling your midnight movie wishes and playing bizarre, genre-crossing film Donnie Darko. Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the 2001 cult classic as a teenager with one seriously creepy hallucinating problem. Midnight Movie: Italian Stallion

Need a classic soft core cinema fix? The Music Box Theatre has you covered. They will be showing Italian Stallion with a pre-Rocky Sylvester Stallone as the leading man. The 1970 film revolves around contemporary couple Stud and Kitty (seriously) whose hip parties often turn into orgies. Join other cult film fans November 9, 10, 16, and 17, show times at midnight. Chuck Anderson Opening @ Threadless Store

Threadless kicks off its gallery shows at the new Threadless Store, 3011 N. Broadway, with the work of Chuck Anderson of No Pattern. The opening party is tonight from 7pm to 9pm. The show (Anderson's first solo in Chicago) will feature a collection of new original work as well as a sampling of past commercial works. Anderson will be in attendance, and an exclusive reprint (in new colors) of his Threadless Select shirt will be available during the length of the show -- as well as free show posters. Local King Corn Premiere @ Facets

King Corn, a Super Size Me-esqe documentary about two people dabbling in corn farming for one year in order to get an insider's perspective on the role of corn in the food production industry. Premieres locally tonight at Facets Cinematheque, 1517 West Fullerton.
