Roll the Tollway

A newly-built stretch of overpass that extends I-355 South near suburban Lemont will be open exclusively to bicycle traffic today, as tomorrow it opens to auto traffic for the first time. Roll the Tollway, a benefit for the development of a multi-use trail along this new twenty mile-long highway. Ride will take place 8:00-11:30 a.m.; click here to register.

Spukt matinee, talkback with Juan Cole @ Viaduct Theatre

Theater Oobleck presents a special matinee of its current play, Spukt, at the Viaduct Theatre (3111 N. Western, Near Belmont). The show features the ghost of Napoleon and the story of his invasion of Egypt in 1798, a story that has parallels with the current Iraqi occupation. After the show there will be an interview and discussion with blogger Juan Cole. Arctic @ Millennium Park

Part of the Chicago Humanities Festival, this multimedia installation "combines chilling video footage with sounds recorded on the Arctic island of Spitsbergen and reassembled into a haunting hour-long sound and video spectacular."
