Mental Graffiti w/ Jonathan Messinger @ Funky Buddha Lounge

This month's installation of Funky Buddha's poetry slam/open mic will feature literary heartthrob Jonathan Messinger, who will read from his debut collection Hiding Out. San Francisco native Chesko, the slam poet behind "How Samuel Mother Fucking Jackson Mother Fucking Saved Xmas Motherfucker: A Children's Story", will also be performing. Peter Schjeldahl @ MCA

As part of the "People Who Shape our World" lecture series, head art critic for the New Yorker magazine Peter Schjeldahl discusses significant moments in the art world and the Museum of Contemporary Art’s history over the past 40 years. Cooking Demonstration by Chris Nugent @ Alliance Francaise

Chef Chris Nugent of Les Nomades, which has been called the finest French restaurant in Chicago, will lead a demonstration of some of his favorite dishes at 6:15 pm at the Alliance Francaise. Reservations are required and the cost is $60 for members of the Alliance Francaise and $75 for the general public.
