Holiday Show @ Architectural Artifacts

Architectural Artifacts, 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave., hosts a holiday arts and crafts show from 10am to 5pm today. Shop for paintings, paper goods, ceramics, jewelry and more. Free.

Depart-ment @ AV-aerie

Depart-ment, the quarterly "department store"-style craft show, happens this weekend. This pre-holiday extravaganza features handmade gifts and goodies from more than 120 local and national vendors. The show runs today from 11 am - 5 pm at AV-aerie (formerly open-end), 2000 W. Fulton #310.

Andersonville's Julmarknad

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce sponsors Andersonville's Julmarknad (Christmas Market) this weekend. There will be tons of discounts from neighborhood businesses and all that holiday cheer we've all read about. A PDF is available on the Chamber's website with a full breakdown of all of the discounts and the weekend's festivities (and a coupon!).

Chicago Latino Composers @ Chicago Cultural Center

A program that showcases the sterling work of premier U.S. and Chicago-based Latino composers. The MAVerick Ensemble, one of Chicago’s leading proponents of contemporary music, performs compositions by Guillermo Gregorio (Argentina); Sergio Assad (Brazil); Victor Pichardo (Mexico); Fareed Haque (US/ Chile/ Pakistan); Ricardo Lorenz (Venezuela); Juan Campoverde (Ecuador); and the CSO Composer in Residence Osvaldo Golijov (Argentina). Known for its bold programming and its exceptional performances, the MAVerick Ensemble presents concerts of experimental music designed to engage, entertain, and inform the audience. Under the direction of William Jason Raynovich, the MAVerick Ensemble inaugurated the Chicago Composers Series at the Chicago Cultural Center in 2006. 3 p.m. Preston Bradley Hall. Free. 78 E.
