The Bicycle Men @ Lakeshore Theater

The Bicycle Men, the popular sketch comedy show featuring Dan Castellaneta (aka the voice of Homer Simpson), will be performed today at Lakeshore Theater, 3pm. Tickets are $35, and the event benefits the Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital; click here for information.

Fashion for the Arts @ Galleria Marchetti

The Fashion for the Arts fashion show has two purposes: to raise $50,000 for Chicago Arts Partnership in Education (C.A.P.E) as well as to give up and coming designers an opportunity for exposure. C.A.P.E. is a Chicago based organization dedicated to strengthening education in the Chicago public school system by incorporating art into core classes such as math, history and English. There will be a reception preceding the show where guest can browse vendor booths set up by local boutiques, businesses, jewelry designers and more while enjoying food and drinks. The fashion show will start roughly at 7pm. 5:30pm – 9pm. 825 West Erie St. Admission $10-$40. Buy tickets here.

Pioneers of Animation: Silent Cartoons @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a program of early 20th century animated films in a program discussing the early pioneers of animation. Jim Healy, Assistant Curator from the Motion Picture Department at George Eastman House, will discuss the cartoons and the animation process during the program. The silent animated films will be accompanied by live piano playing by David Drazin. The program starts this afternoon at 3:00; see the Film Center Website for more details. Film Center: 164 N. Whistling workshop @ Old Town School

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents the latest in a series of workshops designed to give students a brief introduction to a musical style or dance method. This afternoon, it's a workshop on whistling. If you fancy yourself the next Andrew Bird, then take this 2-hour workshop given by Francesco Bonifazi, where you will learn how to whistle (or possibly improve your whistling techniques) and work your way up to musical whistling.
