Duck Soup @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long salute to the comedy stars of the 1930s; specifically, the Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields and Mae West. Today's film is the Marx Brothers classic Duck Soup, featuring some classic routines (the mirror routine is worth admission alone). The film screens this evening at 8:30 PM, and again tomorrow night at 6:00 PM; see the Film Center Website for a full schedule. Chicago's Top Tables

Learn how to make signature dishes from some of Chicago's top restaurants at this evening cooking class offered by Wooden Spoon, 5047 N. Clark St. Chef Todd Moore will help participants prepare Beet Salad with Yuzu, Frisee, Black Pepper Walnuts, and Hickory Bacon, from Boka; Deluxe Focaccia with Taleggio Cheese, Truffle Oil and Fresh Herbs, from Avec; and New York Strip with Eggplant Puree and Balsamic Glazed Pearl Onions, from Custom House. Chef Mehmet Ak of Cousin's I.V. Restaurant, a well-known vegetarian haunt, will talk about the differences between and health benefits of various greens at this, the first class in Whole Foods Lincoln Park's (1000 W. North) brand new Raw Foods Series. Chef Ak also will demonstrate how to prepare Mediterranean Kale with Spicy Curry and Black Forest Cherry Brownies. Lit Gangs of Chicago @ MCA

This month, the Museum of Contemporary Art welcomes Reconstruction Room to their Literary Gangs of Chicago series.
