The 9th Annual Chocolate Festival at Garfield Park Conservatory is a celebration of all things chocolate. Educational seminars on the origins of chocolate, as well as the process of chocolate and candy making will be given, along with fun activities for the kids (and chocolate manicures and massages for adults--how Sybaris!). Suggested donation $1. Festival runs today from 11am to 4pm.
The official Chicago Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Rat starts at 1pm Sunday and will include marching bands, floats, lion teams, a100' Mystical Dragon, and Miss Friendship Ambassador. The parade runs on Wentworth from 24th St. to Cermak Rd. Take the Red Line to Cermak-Chinatown and you're there!
Author Russell Banks will be participating in Writers on the Record with Victoria Lautman this Sunday at the Lookingglass Theatre to talk about his new novel The Reserve. 11:45am. Learn to make your own Valentines with artist Stacey Colangelo from 5-8 pm at Sacred Art, 2040 W. Roscoe. Stacey will help you make graphic, carved "stamp" like designs from block prints to be made into customized cards for friends and loved ones.
