Tonight, The Empty Bottle laces together the midwest and New York with a mind-meld of mind-melting artists. New York/Michigan based trio Sightings return with yet another permutation of their unending experiment with the rudiments of the power trio. Big Black/Godflesh/Contortions are all reasonable points of reference. From Cleveland, Emeralds are becoming the next true wunderkinds of drone music. Locals Akhkhazu (Seth Sher of Coughs and Oakeater, among others) drag the stage into the pits of hell with their deep, dark, percussion-led invocations. 10 p.m., $8. More info at Transmission.
Corpo Dance Company employs a "blend of urban, technical, and athletic movement styles." Like listening to a single then flipping the record to the b-side, Corpo's show b-sides will feature original choreography by Christopher M. McCray (set to Bjork, Amon Tobin, Radiohead) in Act I, then flip to "remixed" versions of those dances by several other area choreographers in Act II. A local radio DJ announces each piece as if on a live radio broadcast.
$20 in advance from the company's website, or $25 at the door. 8 p.m. on March 21, 22, 28, and 29; 2:00 matinee on the 22nd. Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn.
In addition to sampling great wines, attendees can sign up for discounted I-GO memberships or even win free memberships in a raffle. Complimentary rides to public transportation and the UIC campus following the event. Free. 5-7 p.m. 1101 South Canal St. For more info, call 773-269-4018 or visit the Website.
