It's Easter and if you need to get away from the family come to the Orphanage. See art by Sharon Parment, Laura Dobson and Brent Kado as well as music from Ballistic Edna, Kelroy, Athens and Poverty Tax. The food changes every week so hopefully an Easter theme hits the buffet table. The Orphanage is at 643 W. 31st St.
Tonight at 9 p.m., Ronny's (2101 N. California) presents four bands with four distinct takes on metal, all of them dark and thunderous. Velnias, from Naperville, take influence from the forest-folk black metal bands of Norway; Locrian are a synth/guitar duo that weave dark shimmering nightmares with metal threat; Winters in Osaka add elements of power electronics and harsh noise to their grindcore attack; and Druids of Huge simply hit hard and ask no questions. $5 at the door.
