Michael Hartman & TV Pow @ Chicago Cultural Center - FREE concert

The Chicago Department for Cultural Affairs is hosting a series of 11 FREE programs of live avant-garde jazz and experimental music from February through May, and this is performance number seven. It's at the Claudia Cassidy Theater of the Chicago Cultural Center (77 East Randolph Street), and it features digitally-treated drones and soundscapes from local laptop jockeys TV Pow, featuring Michael Hartman. 7 p.m. and free.

This American Life on the Big Screen

"This American Life," the radio and TV show, will be broadcast live from New York to movie theaters nationwide, including the Kerasotes City North 14, 2600 N. Western Ave., tonight at 7pm. Tickets are $20.

Jhumpa Lahiri @ Swedish American Museum

Pulitzer Prize winning author Jhumpa Lahiri joins Women & Children First at the Swedish American Museum for a special reading of her new book of short stories Unaccustomed Earth. Tickets are free with a purchase of the book which must be bought from Women & Children First, either at the store or online. An additional ticket may be purchased for $5. Big Jones, Big Understanding, Big Success?

We told you several weeks ago that Big Jones Chicago would soon be opening up in the old Augie's space on Clark St. in Andersonville. As of Wednesday, they're officially open for real. Tonight they're hosting a fundraiser for eco-Andersonville, a green initiative run by http://www.andersonvilledevcorp.org/ Andersonville Development Corporation, and $50 gets you a sampling of their menu, cocktails, wine, a preview of the restaraunt, and the knowledge that you're making a neighborhood better.

Chicago Underground Comedy

Chicago Underground Comedy features a 45-minute set by its own Jared Logan tonight at Beat Kitchen, 2100 W. Belmont. Adam Burke and Chad Briggs open, and Carrie Callahan MCs. Doors open at 8:45pm, show starts at 9:30pm. The show is free, but 21 and over.

Like A Fine Wine: Sex through Menopause @ Early to Bed

Every woman's response to menopause is different. A team-up with the Chicago Women's Health Center to give you up-to-date information on the changes you can expect throughout menopause and how to adjust your sex life accordingly.
