Cleveland's own continues their nationwide tour. Although far removed from their mid 90s string of hits, Bone Thugs hasn't changed, albeit a bit wiser nowadays. 18 and up show, festivities begin at 8:30. Tickets start at $26.50; no discount for wearing your Indians jersey.
The legendary KRS One headlines a fundraiser for the Stop the Violence Movement tonight at the Cubby Bear, Clark and Addison. Pugz Atoms, Que-B.I.L.L.A.H. and Astonish open, with spinning by Soul Selector DJ World in between. Doors at 9pm. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. 21 and over.
The WLUW Record Fair is now the Chicago Independent Radio Project (CHIRP) Record Fair, and it's going on this weekend. Search through stacks of records, look for your favorite release from local labels, pick up some silkscreened posters and more. Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 10am-5pm at the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse, 1419 W. Blackhawk. Admission is $7/$5 with postcard/any ad, or pay $25 and get in early on Saturday (8am-10am) plus free re-admission all weekend.
The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, hosts the season premiere of the Short Film Brigade. Catch 10 short films from Poland via Helsinki, London, Toronto, Latvia, California, Chicago, Seattle and New York for just $8. 8:30pm, 21 and over.
No, that crowd of people you'll see running toward Wrigley Field on Sunday aren't scrambling for good bleacher sets. They're taking part in the Race To Wrigley, a 5K run that winds through Lakeview and ends up at the baseball shrine. It's sold out but you can probably still taunt the runners with a cold beer while looking out the window of the Cubby Bear.
Artists presenting work include Christopher Ellis and Dawn Marie Galtieri of Voice of the City, Winifred Haun, artistic director of Winifred Haun & Dancers, and independent aerialist Jill Heyser. Independent choreographer Sarita Smith Childs, Paul Abrahamson, artistic director of Chicago Ballet and artists from The Space Movement Project also present work. $25/general admission, $20/students and seniors.
